Tips on Purchasing a Surveillance System:

Identify you needs before you make your purchase. Do you want your cameras outside or inside? Do you need PTZ camera’s? If you want them outside make sure your purchase a camera with an IP65 rating or above. Most outdoor cameras say weatherproof but if your cameras comes with a IP65 rating you know it can withstand heavy outside rain abuse.
If you want a 3-4 surveillance camera system but you may want additional cameras in the future, purchase an 8 Ch DVR instead of a 4 Ch DVR. This way you can have your 3 or 4 cameras & when it comes time to expand you are ready. Your additional cameras will plug right into your 8 Ch DVR. If you only have a 4 Ch DVR & 4 cameras, when you want a couple more cameras, you would have to buy another DVR for the cameras to record onto.

Make sure you get your surveillance system installation done by the right company with the proper experience. Our system installation prices are more than affordable, click here to check our prices.
Don’t tell anyone you own a surveillance system. When you get burglarized most times it is by someone who you know. If that is the case the intruders would just wear masks and then you wouldn’t be able to identify the intruder.

When you setup your DVR make sure you secure it to the wall and another heavy solid object. Try to setup a lockbox or something that restricts access to the DVR. If your DVR is locked and secure, when an intruder is in your home they won’t be able to steal the DVR.

Consider having your data from your DVR stored at a remote location. For a monthly fee you can have your data saved at another location. This way if your DVR is stolen
you can still retrieve the information on it.

These are Home Security tips for the outside of your home:

It is always a good idea to constantly make daily use of these home security tips.We have many Home Security Products that can help keep your home safe.

    1. Installing a fence around the perimeter of your house provides another means of criminal deterrence. If you do not want a fence around your house then installing a fence for your backyard helps too.

    2. Make sure the appearance of your home gives off the impression that someone is always home. The door barking unit barks louder when someone walks closer to the unit.

    3. You should always keep your storage units, sheds & outhouses locked at all times. A burglar can get into them and use the tools inside to break into your home.

    4. Do not keep any ladders or anything tall on the outside of your home that a burglar can use to gain entry to your home.

    5. When purchasing shrubs or other structures for the outside of your home, try not to place them in a position when an intruder may be able to hide.

    6. You should post a few surveillance or security signs around the perimeter of your house, even if you do not have a security system, a surveillance system or a dog. Having little noticeable signs that say you do have a security system is a good idea. Signs should say “Beware of Dog” or “24/7 Surveillance system in Use” or things of that nature.

    7. Motion sensors for exterior garage lighting can be useful, because it will allow you to see if anyone is coming.

    8. Always take your keys out of your car when you’re not in it, even if your car is parked in your driveway.

    9. Have your outside & entry doors properly light at night.

These are Home Security tips for the inside of your home:

    1. Install new key locks after you move into your new home.

    2. Keep your shades or blinds closed when you are not going to be home.

    3. If you cannot see outside your front door always ask who it is before allowing anyone into your home.

    4. Purchase a Door Brace if you have any sliding doors or for windows.

    5. Have a few stickers on the windows stating “alarm system in use”.

    6. Always check your windows and doors to make sure they are locked while your home and while you’re not home.

    Learn about Security Cameras :

There are many different types of security cameras available on the market today. There are bullet cameras, infrared cameras, dome cameras, ptz cameras, hidden cameras, ip cameras, weatherproof rated outdoor cameras, vandal proof cameras, zoom cameras, vari-focal cameras, fixed box cameras & varations of each. With so many different types of cameras, it may be confusing to make the right choice. When it comes time to purchase the correct camera, let us guide you with your decision.

  • Wireless Cameras- connect to your DVR through a transmitter & a receiver. The transmitter connects to the wireless cameras & the receiver connects to the DVR. Most surveillance cameras run on 2.4ghz frequency. A cordless phone if on the same frequency can cause disturbance with the output of video for wireless cameras. Wireless internet as well can cause disturbance. It all depends on the location of the cameras in relation to the wireless telephone & the router for your internet. The amount of metal in the walls can also cause interference with the output of the video. Click here for one of our wireless security cameras.
  • Wireless cameras are more expensive then wired cameras, but are cheaper to install because no wires have to be run. Depending on the distance between the wireless camera & the DVR, you may not get the best picture with a wireless camera.
  • Bullet Cameras- Are smaller than regular surveillance cameras. Bullet cameras are typically used for indoor application because they do not have IR LED’s. Therefore, they do not show the best picture at night. Click here for one of our bullet cameras.
  • Infrared cameras- These cameras have IR LED’s. At night the cameras LED’s activate and allow you to see at night.
  • Dome Cameras- These cameras are dome shaped & generally used for indoor applications. Dome cameras can have IR LED’s & can have a vari-focal lens or a fixed lens. Click here for one of our dome cameras.
  • PTZ Cameras- PTZ stands for pan, tilt, zoom. These cameras are able to moved through view on the internet, the DVR itself, or a PTZ Controller. A PTZ Controller looks similar to an old joystick. These cameras have the ability to be set to scan a specific area. This makes it useful for large areas, instead of using two cameras you can cover the same area & more with a PTZ camera.
  • Hidden Cameras- A hidden camera is board camera inside of a household item. Such as a clock radio or an Ipod dock. Some hidden cameras can have DVR’s inside of them, and others must be plugged into a DVR or VCR to record. Click here for one of our hidden cameras.
  • Network IP Cameras-Ip cameras do not connect to a DVR. They connect directly to a computer network. Instead of logging into your DVR, you will log directly into your camera through an Ip address.
  • Weatherproof Rated Cameras- There are surveillance cameras that say they are weatherproof, then there are surveillance cameras that have a weatherproof rating. A good weatherproof rating is IP65 & IP66. If it says IP66 in the information about the camera, then you know you are getting a high quality weatherproof rating. The camera is of higher weatherproof quality when it has an IP rating, instead of buying a camera that just says weatherproof.
  • Vandelproof Cameras- These cameras are made to take abuse. Vandel Proof Cameras are made from strong materials and can withstand damage that a normal surveillance camera can not. These are ideal for outdoor locations where you do not have control over. Ex. A busy street, a dangerous area, bad weather areas. The cameras are placed inside of a vandalproof housing to keep the camera alive. Most of these are dome cameras or bullet cameras inside a larger housing.
  • Vari-focal Cameras- Commonly called zoom cameras. These cameras have the ability to manually zoom from the back or front of the camera itself.
  • Fixed Box Cameras- These cameras are highly customizable. You can add brackets & lens for a better setup.  They are typically larger than regular surveillance cameras.
